Fixed the whole problem by 1) activating Firewall, running full virus scan 2) cleaning out all unecessary files, 3) downloading Windows Service Pack 2, KB 884020, Windows Security update for XP I just upgraded to Win XP SP3, and out of nowhere, arose this issue.
