If the steps above don't work, then try to clean the contacts or verify the inner connections. Then the price in Bestbuy was $999. I have seen hundreds of posts on this problem but none on the fix. I took 65 vacation photos on my DSC-S85 today and then got the C:13:01 error code. BUT I CAN'T TRUST IT NOT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I got the "C:13:01 format error" on my Sony Cybershot camera twice, and had vitually given up on my vacation pictures!

The point is to get that card to align properly. I used the "smart recovery" software from PC Inspector (suggested by Luc in Jan 2006) and recovered ALL my "lost" photos (some were damaged). The problem has been tracked down to the camera and not any of my mem sticks. More about the author What is there left to try.
