If not (the lens cap still doesn't open), then you might still have a problem with your gears, or that hafl-gear on the front plate which actually controls things. just gently tap your lens cover then it'll work.... There are three screws on the bottom of the black box (under the metal plate) - 2 silver ones and a black one. My Sony Cybershot had the same problem...A couple of taps on my desktop and it's fixed! They can take a lot, but they will break at a certain point, so don't over do it.
turn on the camera, and while the lense goes in and out for the third time...2. i had the same problem. And i already tried tapping it but it is still not working. Also, try different angles/sides.

You might also want to use some force when it locks up, and push it hard enough to spin - it might be easier to break any dirt off that way.
